Changelog

Follow new updates and improvements to Vocabul.

Turn any selected text into a card and Study Languages!

What's new

Create Cards From Selected Text

Select a word or phrase in your cards and choose Add to Vocabul from the text selection menu. A new card opens with your selection already filled in, so anything you spot while studying can become a card without retyping it.

Every Card Has Its Own Language

Cards are no longer tied to the language in your profile. Vocabul now works out which language each word is in, shows it in the term field as you type, and keeps it on the card, so you can study words from different languages side by side. The language appears on the card page next to the pronunciation, along with the romanization where there is one, and Mandarin, Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Japanese and Korean are now available as study languages.

Improvements

A Dedicated Screen For New Cards

Creating a card now happens on its own screen. The suggestion streams in as it's written, animating from the word you typed into the finished card, and the card is saved as soon as it finishes.

Card Labels In Your Language

The labels on generated cards now appear in your language.

Save words as you read — no app switching needed

What's new

Scan Text With Your Camera

There's a new Read tab that turns your camera into a live scanner. Point it at anything with text and Vocabul highlights what it sees as you move. Freeze the frame, select the words you want, and they turn into a new card right there — no opening a share sheet, no switching apps, so you stay immersed in what you're reading.

Turn any text into a Vocabul card in one tap

What's new

Share Text Into Vocabul

You can now turn text you find anywhere into a card without retyping it. Select text in Safari (or any browser), tap Share, then choose Vocabul — it opens straight into the card editor with the term already filled in and your set ready to go. The same works from any other app that lets you select and share text, like Notes or Messages. It even works with iOS's Live Text: point your camera at a sign, menu, or page, select the text it recognizes, tap Share, and send it into Vocabul the same way.

Improvements

Redesigned with Liquid Glass

Home and set screens have a new look built on iOS's Liquid Glass design, with translucent, glass-like header buttons and a header that collapses precisely in sync with your scrolling. We also closed the empty gap that used to sit above the home list.

Instant App Launch

Vocabul now opens instantly to your sets and cards — no more loading spinners when you launch the app. It quietly checks for updates in the background, so what you see stays current.
